Longtime ICSC member Valerie Richardson is joining the organization as COO. Richardson — who has worked for The Container Store for 20 years, most recently as vice president of real estate — will start Feb. 1 and will be based in ICSC’s New York City headquarters.

A 35-year member of ICSC, Richardson has held numerous volunteer leadership roles at the organization, and she served as ICSC’s 59th chair, holding that office for the 2018/19 term. “Val’s perspective as a longtime ICSC volunteer leader and member, as well as her expertise in leading multiple retailers through successful expansions and transitions, will be invaluable as we build for the future,” said ICSC president and CEO Tom McGee.

Richardson will report directly to McGee and will oversee day-to-day operations, including membership, volunteer engagement, programs, services, marketing, communications and research.
