AMC Theatres is creating a subscription-based service to rival the popular MoviePass service.
AMC Stubs A-List, as the $19.95-per-month ticket service is called, enables members to view as many as three movies per week. The program kicks off next week, and subscribers can enroll online.
Subscription services such as MoviePass (which is currently offering a deal at $7.95 for three movies per month) have gained popularity in recent years. AMC says it will continue to accept MoviePass at its theaters.
"We believe that our current and future loyal guests will be interested in this type of program, as AMC Stubs A-List rewards guests with something that no one else offers: the very best of AMC, including Imax, Dolby Cinema and RealD 3D up to 3 times per week, for one simple, sustainable price," said Adam Aron, president and CEO of AMC Entertainment Holdings, in a press release. AMC is the world's largest movie exhibition company, boasting about 1,000 movie theaters and 11,000 screens worldwide.
