General Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded directly by the ICSC Foundation and ICSC Foundation Canada and are for students within the United States and Canada. All scholarship recipients receive an industry mentor, a trip to RECon for U.S. recipients or Canadian Conference for Canadian recipients, and complimentary ICSC student membership.

Undergraduate — United States

Eligibility criteria:  

  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Member of an underrepresented racial/ethnic minority group (Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian/Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaskan native)
  • Full-time sophomore, junior or senior enrolled at an accredited university in the fall of 2020
  • For sophomores and juniors, the award is renewable for an additional year provided renewal criteria are met
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Demonstrated interest in retail real estate or related field

Internship Job Description:

PGIM Real Estate is seeking highly motivated sophomore students who are currently enrolled in full-time undergraduate programs to join the Sophomore Training Program (STP), a 10-week program that offers a variety of individual and group learning opportunities. The position offers an outstanding opportunity to learn and develop a broad range of financial, credit, real estate underwriting, analytical, marketing, business communication and presentation skills. As a STP intern, you will engage in challenging projects that provide hands-on experience to develop your problem-solving and decision-making skills. 

In this role you will interact professionally with senior management, joint venture partners, brokers, originators, borrowers and investors. And, you will provide analytical support on a wide variety of assignments.

Job responsibilities may include the following:

  • Conducting financial modeling to evaluate potential new investment opportunities
  • Underwriting and analysis to support asset management decisions (e.g., leasing, financing, buy/sell scenarios, property valuations, and joint venture structuring)
  • Creating and executing strategies for developments, renovations/repositionings, and capital projects
  • Assisting in preparation of Investment Committee memorandums and related support
  • Providing analytical support on a wide variety of assignments including market research, review of property operating statements, cash flow modeling, property valuation, borrower credit review, and loan briefs
