Specialty apparel retailer Southern Tide is opening stores in Florida and New England, with plans to boost its total store count to 18 by July.
Southern Tide seeks to serve consumers who want to incorporate Southern heritage and lifestyle into their wardrobe, even if they do not live in the South, said CEO Christopher Heyn in a press release. The retailer works with franchisers and seeks locations near country clubs, resorts and college campuses.
"The development of the Southern Tide signature stores and wider retail programs has allowed our brand to reach new consumers in areas that are important to us," Heyn said. "Now, more than ever, data is driving retail decisions, and content is a key factor in helping brands anticipate consumer needs."
The company recently announced the openings of stores in North Carolina (in Asheville, Raleigh and Wilmington) and now seeks to reach Mount Pleasant, S.C.; Vero Beach, Fla.; Westport, Conn.; and Massachusetts (Chatham, Lynnfield, Mashpee and Nantucket). These stores are set to open between March and May.
Southern Tide currently operates 14 stores, and its apparel is distributed also through 750 specialty stores across 45 states. Over the past three years, Southern Tide has increased its department store presence from 15 stores to 95.
