Simon is testing a search platform that enables shoppers to research products that are in stock at participating retailers. Simon is testing Simon Search at 29 centers across the U.S. Retailers like Aeropostale, Anthropologie, Athleta, Banana Republic, Gap, J.Crew, JCPenney and Old Navy have provided in-stock inventory data to the platform.
Simon plans a broader rollout this year. Simon Search eventually will be available through the Simon app, property websites and interactive directories located at Simon properties nationwide. “Simon Search brings new search capabilities to our retail centers, offering shoppers multiple ways to search for specific in-store merchandise,” said chief marketing officer Mikael Thygesen. “Consumer research has shown that almost 90% of shoppers are interested in the enhanced search capabilities.”
Brookfield Properties will increase neurodiversity hiring through a partnership with CAI Neurodiverse Solutions. The landlord will launch the program by hiring three neurodivergent individuals and a team leader to support and oversee the program.
People with neurological differences like autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder offer different perspectives for analyzing data and problem-solving, according to Brookfield Properties director of human resources for retail Vern Johnson. However, neurodivergent individuals struggle to gain employment when facing typical interviewing techniques and to retain employment due to the lack of workplace accommodations, according to CAI. A neurodiversity employment program that replaces the traditional interview process and creates a supportive environment will enable neurodivergent team members to perform as well as or exceed their neurotypical peers, Johnson said.
