ICSC PAC Donor Spotlight: Brian Huben

Why do you support ICSC PAC?

It’s important for our industry to have a voice, and the ICSC PAC, which is the political arm for the association, helps us amplify our message and gets us a seat at the table with federal candidates.

Why is it important to have a PAC that represents the Marketplaces Industry?

The Marketplaces Industry is a unique convergence of multiple constituencies – developers, retailers, landlord, tenants and consumers. ICSC’s policy efforts represent those numerous interests very effectively – complemented by the work of the PAC. The ICSC PAC is the single political action committee exclusively for our diverse membership.

Do you feel that your involvement with ICSC PAC has helped your business?

Without a doubt. Through my work with the ICSC PAC, I have met people, legislators and others outside of my normal professional circle. Those relationships are complimentary to my law practice, whether it’s directly advocating for legislative action, educating legislators on the real world effects of new laws, or informing clients about pending legislation. Political engagement makes good business sense and I encourage others to step up and take advantage of the important opportunities the ICSC PAC provides.

Has being an ICSC PAC supporter helped you feel more involved in the political process?

Absolutely. In addition to the opportunities I’ve had to engage with elected officials as a Government Relations Chair at ICSC, the ICSC PAC provides another access point for me to convey to legislators, on a personal level, the issues that keep my clients up at night. Whether it has been hosting a reception for a Member of Congress at my office, attending a political fundraiser on behalf of ICSC or representing the industry in Washington, D.C. during the annual Federal Fly-In, the ICSC PAC provides immeasurable benefits all around.

If you were talking to someone else about giving to ICSC PAC, what would you tell them?

Giving is great, but giving and backing it up with direct involvement is an even better investment for you and your business.
