9 Retail Property Deals of Note, Including a Boston-Area Mall That Traded for $130M

Watertown Mall Associates sold the 260,867-square-foot Watertown Mall power center in the Boston suburb of Watertown, Massachusetts, to Alexandria for $130 million. Tenants include Best Buy and Target. JLL Capital Markets represented the seller.

Merlone Geier Partners bought the 182,653-square-foot Magnolia Tyler Center in Riverside, California, from a family for $39.4 million. Tenants include Aldi, Bob’s Discount Furniture, Big Lots, Bed Bath & Beyond, Starbucks, Olive Garden and America’s Tire. JLL Capital Markets represented the seller.

Federal acquired the 89,625-square-foot, Safeway-anchored Chesterbrook Shopping Center in McLean, Virginia, from an LLC for $26 million. Additional tenants include Mylo’s Grill, Starbucks and Walgreens.

Alpharetta, Georgia’s 94,500-square-foot, Publix-anchored Alpharetta Commons, pictured at top, traded for $24.6 million. Hanley Investment Group and ParaSell represented the 1031 exchange buyer. CBRE represented the seller, an institutional real estate owner, operator and developer. Other tenants include Sport Clips, T-Mobile, a nail salon, a dry cleaner, a liquor store and food and beverage outlets.

Ben Mallah of Equity Management Partners acquired a 23,000, mixed-use complex in St. Petersburg, Florida, from Limestone Asset Management for $5.3 million. Tenants include Outback Steakhouse and Panera.

In Chesterfield, Michigan, north of Detroit, a newly constructed, 7,757-square-foot outparcel with a triple-net ground lease to Olive Garden traded for $2.4 million. The property sits in front of a Meijer supermarket. Hanley Investment Group and ParaSell represented the 1031 exchange buyer. Marcus & Millichap represented the seller.

Kize Capital and Spinoso Real Estate Group purchased the 1.4 million-square-foot SouthPark Mall in Strongsville, Ohio, from Starwood Capital Group. Anchors include Cinemark, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Kohl’s and Macy’s.

Hull Property Group purchased the 933,979-square-foot Charleston Town Center in Charleston, West Virginia, from U.S. Bank. Hull plans to reposition the property and bring in new tenants.

Mason Asset Management and Namdar Realty Group purchased the 594,000-square-foot Country Club Mall in LaVale, Maryland, from Country Club Nassim LLC and the 404,936 square-foot, Pick ‘n Save-anchored Marketplace of Brown Deer in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, from RVI.
