April 2, 2024

2024’s ICSC LAS VEGAS promises a blend of forward-looking insights and historical perspective. Held May 19 through 21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the event will examine the evolving industry landscape and the experiences that shape it.

A Powerhouse Keynote

Legendary college football coach Nick Saban, who has a proven record of championship successes, will present a keynote at the Wynn Las Vegas at 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 19. The seven-time national coach of the year will share insights on overcoming adversity to achieve victory.

Professional Development

ICSC will host Professional Development Workshops on May 19 at the Wynn. The educational events will run from 1 to 4:30 p.m., including Retrospectives & Perspectives: A Conversation with Industry Veterans, in which ICSC COO and past chair Valerie Richardson will lead a discussion with longstanding ICSC members James Bersani, Peggy Blanchard and Richard Wolf.  These industry veterans will offer unique perspectives on the past and future of the industry, navigating change, building strong relationships and career advancement.

That evening at 6:15, the ICSC Global Awards Ceremony will celebrate the prestigious MAXI Awards and Visual Victories Awards. The MAXIs honor innovative events, programs and technology that contribute significant value to the Marketplaces Industry. The Visual Victories Awards recognize excellence in visual merchandising among retail merchandising units, kiosks, temporary in-line retailers, media campaigns, sponsorships and promotional pop-ups.

Power Sessions: Quick Hits on Today’s Landscape

To accommodate the anticipated high attendance, ICSC has expanded the dedicated space for the 30-minute content sessions at the Las Vegas Convention Center on Monday, May 20, and Tuesday, May 21. Among the sessions that highlight trends and challenges facing the industry are:

  • Transforming Tradition: Reimagining Mall Design to Meet Consumers’ Needs
  • The Office: The Effect of Flexible Work Models on Foot Traffic
  • Shifting Store Formats: The Impact on Tenant Mixes, Leases and Portfolio
  • Urban and Suburban Renewal Strategies: Lessons from Successful Revitalization Projects

A Wave of New Exhibitors

The bustling exhibit hall opens its doors at 8 a.m. on each Monday and Tuesday. There, attendees can connect with architects, banks, developers, property managers, tenants and an array of product and service providers.

This year welcomes a wave of fresh faces to the show floor. Developers and owners are well represented, including Curbline Properties, which will form as a multibillion-dollar spinoff from Site Centers sometime in 2004. It will be the first public real estate company focused exclusively on convenience properties. That booth will be co-branded by Curbline and Site Centers.

On the retailer side, Knitwell Group — a powerhouse in specialty apparel with brands like Ann Taylor, Chico’s and Loft — will be present for the first time. Home improvement giant Lowe’s Cos. joins the scene, too. The food-and-beverage sector welcomes newcomers Beyond Food Mart, Domino’s, Golden Corral, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and Sambazon acai bowls, while Starbucks will return to the event after a hiatus, taking advantage of a meeting room space.

Municipalities, too, recognize the power of ICSC LAS VEGAS, as Andalusia, Alabama; Azusa, California; Birmingham, Alabama; Carson, Nevada; Las Vegas; Orange, California; and Westminster, Colorado, all will attend for the first time. These cities aim to entice developers with their demographics and attractive incentive packages.
