Madison Reed aims for 600 Color Bars

October 18, 2019

Madison Reed says it plans to open hundreds more of its Color Bar hair-coloring studios across the U.S., adding to the nine it operates in Dallas–Fort Worth, New York City and San Francisco.

“I can confirm that the goal is to have approximately 100 corporate-owned stores and 500 franchises by the end of 2024,” said Nora Murray, who handles the company's public relations.

The company aims to open these Color Bar shops in select cities, in partnership with Franworth, a consulting firm specializing in brand and franchise growth. Besides the shops, Madison Reed operates a website for selling products to customers who color their own hair at home.

"We have been trailblazers in omni-channel retail," said Madison Reed CEO and founder Amy Errett, in a press release. "We are excited to announce that the next channel in our growth strategy is franchising, which unlocks the ability to scale physical retail like no other."

The company differentiates itself from regular salons by focusing only on hair coloring, charging about $60 per customer and using nontoxic ingredients.
