Last month ICSC presented the 2025 State Legislative Excellence Award to Michigan State Senator Jeremy Moss and Michigan State Representative Douglas Wozniak.
The award recognizes state legislators who have gone above and beyond to advance the goals and objectives of the Marketplaces Industry through their leadership, bipartisan collaboration and commitment to policies that support retail real estate.
Michigan Government Relations Chair Ed Eickhoff, along with state lobbyists Adrian Cazal and Evelyn Sweeney, presented the awards.
Senator Moss, who also serves as President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and Representative Wozniak were recognized for their leadership in advancing HB 4524, which streamlines and extends the sunset on the Marketable Title Record Act, a key priority for ICSC in Michigan. The bill simplifies property ownership by extinguishing most interests, easements, and restrictions (like covenants) that are older than 40 years, unless a notice of claim is recorded.
