This week ICSC took part in an event held by House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN-6) to spotlight small business stakeholders during National Small Business Week.
Whip Emmer was joined by House Small Business Committee Chairman Roger Williams (R-TX-25), Representatives Mark Alford (R-MO-4), Troy Downing (R-MT-2), Brian Jack (R-GA-3), Nick LaLota (R-NY-1), Dan Meuser (R-PA-9), Derek Schmidt (R-KS-2) and Pete Stauber (R-MN-8).
The roundtable included representatives from ICSC, the Asian American Hotel Owners Association, International Franchise Association, Intuit, National Association of Home Builders, National Association of REALTORS, National Federation of Independent Business, National Grocers Association, National Roofing Contractors Association, Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council and Small Business Investor Alliance.
“When small businesses thrive, our economy grows and the retail real estate industry grows along with it,” Moutray McLaren, ICSC Public Policy senior vice president said. “We are sincerely appreciative to Whip Emmer and Chairman Williams for convening this discussion and allowing us to share some of our policy priorities with this important group of lawmakers."
“Making up 99 percent of all businesses in America, small businesses are vital to our nation’s economy and serve as pillars in communities across the country,” Emmer said. “I am thankful to have heard from small business stakeholder groups today, including one from Minnesota, on how Congress can deliver policies that help them grow and succeed.”
