CBL Properties announced the appointment of Michael I. Lebovitz as president, effective immediately.

Lebovitz in a press release. “Michael has always had a true passion for the real estate business. Over the last several years, he has demonstrated his proactive leadership, overseeing a number of key initiatives, including our transformative redevelopment program, advancements in technology and business processes, and improvements to our corporate HR practices and culture. He is never satisfied with status quo, and that drive will be invaluable as we work together to achieve our immediate and longer-term goals for CBL.”
Michael Lebovitz joined the firm in 1988. He has spent much of his three-decade career there heading the development division, including supervising construction. As CBL’s development program slowed, he shifted the company’s focus toward redevelopment, enabling a seamless transition to pursue growth opportunities within the existing portfolio. He also oversees CBL’s information-technology and human-resources departments.
Lebovitz joined CBL as a project manager for CoolSprings Galleria, in Franklin, Tenn., overseeing the construction of one of CBL’s most productive assets. Among his other posts, he has been executive vice president of development and administration; senior vice president and chief development officer; senior vice president of mall projects; and vice president of development. Before joining CBL, he was affiliated with Goldman, Sachs & Co., from 1986 to 1988. He is a member of ICSC.
Lebovitz is active in community organizations, including service on the national boards of The Jewish Federations of North America (for whom he has also been chairman of the national campaign); United Israel Appeal; and United Way of Greater Chattanooga. He is a past president of the Jewish Community Federation of Greater Chattanooga; a past member of the national board of Hillel; a past board member of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee; and served on the council and executive committee of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, in Washington, D.C.
Lebovitz graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor's in business administration.
