A Store Grows in Brooklyn, Thanks to 16-Year-Old Owner’s Drive

March 16, 2022

Paris Mckenzie grew up around small businesses, helping out in her mother’s hair salon from the age of 10. At 16, she used her savings to lease the space next to mom’s Brooklyn salon. Paris Beauty Supplyz opened in the summer of 2020, making its proprietor the youngest Black owner of a beauty supply store. In 2022, she’s a high school student who now runs two businesses.
