5 retailers adding physical space

June 10, 2021

Home exercise equipment juggernaut Peloton is expanding its physical retail footprint again. The company plans to grow its 300-square-foot showroom at Sacramento, California’s Westfield Galleria at Roseville to 2,761 square feet with room for classes.

Houseplant delivery retailer Leafy is branching out with more physical stores. A Westfield Galleria at Roseville location and one in Pasadena will join its Palo Alto and San Jose locations.

Food-and-beverage operator 305 Concepts signed two Coyo Taco leases to add to the Mexican street food chain’s 12 other locations in South Florida. Colliers represented Coyo Taco in both transactions. In South Miami, Coyo Taco will open in a freestanding, 3,819-square-foot building formerly occupied by Spring Chicken. Cushman & Wakefield represented the landlord. In downtown Fort Lauderdale, Coyo Taco will open in the 2,905-square-foot former Suviche at the Bank of America Plaza office property. Comras Co. represented the landlord.

Roundy’s supermarket founder Bob Mariano opened his first Dom’s Kitchen & Market, in Chicago’s Lincoln Square. The 17,800-square-foot location includes a traditional grocery store, a kitchen that serves meals and an outdoor seating area for dining. To create a neighborhood vibe, the building has only 20 parking spaces.

Small business owners are discovering ways to serve rural customers. The owner of Ramsey’s Market, which has two stores, is opening refrigerated lockers in southwestern Iowa’s Shelby and Walnut, which no longer have grocery stores. Each location has 15 refrigerated lockers and 15 frozen lockers. The lockers are part of a pilot funded through Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Rural Innovation Grant program.
