Small Business Confidence Wanes

The MetLife and U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business Index for the fourth quarter indicates a sharp decline in confidence among small business owners, largely driven by pessimistic views on the national and local economy. And yet, small business owners remain optimistic about their own businesses’ health and cash flow. Inflation remains a persistent concern, as over half cited it as a major challenge, and the ongoing worker shortage continues to impact recruitment efforts, leading to innovative strategies like flexible work hours and benefits.
