Simon is linking up with Thai retail developer Siam Piwat Group for the $313.3 million development of three luxury retail outlet projects in Thailand under the Simon Premium Outlets brand, the companies have announced.
The first of these will be a 50,000-square-meter (about 538,200 square feet) center in Bangkok, scheduled to open in October 2019.
This marks the fourth Asian country Simon has entered. The firm already has factory Premium Outlets brand centers in Japan, Malaysia and South Korea.
Siam Piwat Group owns the Siam Center, Siam Discovery and Siam Paragon centers in Bangkok.
Bangkok, with a population of some 14 million in the greater metro area, is the main port of entry for Thailand's extensive and growing tourism industry, according to the announcement.
