Triple Five Group’s proposed $4 billion, 6 million-square-foot retail theme park in Miami cleared another hurdle Monday when it gained the approval of a county planning board, The Miami Herald reports. The near-unanimous vote by the Planning Advisory Board opens the way for a vote by the County Commission on May 17.
American Dream Miami, as the project is called, would still need various permits and regulatory approvals before construction starts. Triple Five also needs to line up financing. The Edmonton, Canada–based company also owns the massive Mall of America and West Edmonton Mall.
