Makinen is taking over for Bob Dake, who will become retail COO of Sterling Organization, starting July 19. He will lead leasing, lease administration, property management, property marketing and construction and will sit on all the firm’s retail fund investment committees. Before working for ShopOne, Dake held senior positions at Brixmor and Equity One. In 2020, ICSC honored Dake as one of its 4 Under 40.

Meanwhile, Marcus & Millichap promoted Richard Matricaria to Western Division COO and J.D. Parker to Eastern Division COO. In April 2019, as part of a leadership succession plan, the company had promoted each to executive vice president to oversee division managers and specialty directors.
Matricaria joined the company in 2000 and was a retail broker for several years. He built offices in Orlando and Tampa, the latter of which became a top-performer. In 2016, he moved to Chicago to oversee the Midwest Division, which grew by 30% under his supervision.

Parker joined the firm in 2004 as a multifamily agent in Manhattan and transitioned to management in 2006. He opened the company’s Brooklyn office in 2007 and and soon after took over responsibility for the New York regional offices, leading Manhattan to become the firm’s largest operation. The company appointed him Northeast Division manager in 2016, and he also has helped drive expansion in Canada.
