• Edge Realty Capital Markets’ Houston office promoted Kevin Holland to principal. Holland joined the investment services firm in 2016. Additionally, Micha van Marcke joined Edge Realty as a principal; Chace Henke as a senior vice president; and Ryan Holliday as a senior associate. Van Marcke comes to the firm from Transwestern Commercial Services, where she was a senior vice president; Henke joins from Transwestern’s investment sales division, where she was a vice president; and Holliday was a Transwestern associate specializing in commercial real estate investment sales, project leasing and tenant representation.

• Newmark Knight Frank hired Drew Robinson as a senior vice president within its valuation and advisory team in the Atlanta area. A member of the retail and regional malls specialty practice group, Robinson has 15 years of experience in valuing different types of commercial real estate, including regional shopping malls and lifestyle retail centers. Robinson was a vice president at CBRE for 14 years, with responsibility for evaluating commercial properties. He also served as an expert witness for property tax appeals. His expertise spans the Southeast, in particular Alabama, the Carolinas, Mississippi and Tennessee.

• CBL Properties announced the retirement of COO and Executive Vice President Augustus N. (Gus) Stephas, who is winding up a nearly 50-year career in the real estate industry. “On behalf of CBL’s board of directors, employees and business partners, I would like to recognize and thank Gus for his dedication and contributions to CBL’s success over the years,” said CEO Stephen D. Lebovitz.

“Gus has contributed to CBL and the shopping center industry in innumerable ways throughout his multidecade career,” Lebovitz said. “Gus has been an integral part of CBL since its formation, helping to hone the company’s reputation as a first-class manager of market-dominant centers. His innate understanding of the business and his financial expertise have lent a beneficial perspective to CBL’s leasing and operations, leading to a stronger and more efficient organization. Gus is also known for his gregarious management style, which has energized the organization with a spirit of comradery and clearly demonstrated his passion for the industry and CBL.”

Stephas’ career in the real estate industry includes 40 years with CBL and its predecessor company. He joined that predecessor firm at its formation in 1978, as controller. The firm promoted Stephas several times throughout his career, appointing him to his current position in 2010. Stephas was affiliated with the shopping center division of Arlen Realty & Development Corp. as an accountant and later as assistant controller. He relocated from the New York City area to Chattanooga, Tenn., in 1970, as part of the merger of Arlen Realty’s shopping center division with Independent Enterprises, a Chattanooga-based developer of shopping centers.

Matt Stephens will lead the new tenant-representation services practice at Salt Lake City–based MTN Retail Advisors. Stephens, previously with Newmark Knight Frank, brings some 40 years of experience, having worked with such retailers as Ace Hardware, The Little Gym International and Wendy’s, and completing transactions across some 800 U.S. markets. MTN Retail works nationwide, collecting primary data on about 25,000 grocery-anchored shopping centers and evaluating real estate, shopping center, grocery store and co-tenant attributes.

• Charlotte, N.C.–based MAB American Management appointed John Argo as president of development. Argo, a member of the MAB American team since 2013, oversees the development of U.S. projects, including 750,000 square feet of retail properties with a cumulative value in excess of $250 million.

“John has been an integral member of our executive team since day one,” said Cary Uretz, a managing partner at MAB American. “His contributions to our success are immeasurable, and I look forward to John’s continuing to lead our development initiatives into the future.”

Before joining MAB American, Argo was vice president of retail development at Aronov Realty Management, where he worked for nearly 30 years. He has also worked in development with the city of Lakeland, Fla.
