Good real estate always finds a good use, as evidenced by Duke University Health Systems’ decision to open a clinic in the former Macy’s anchor store at Northgate Mall, in Durham, N.C.
Durham Realty Inc. purchased the two-story, 183,840-square-foot former department store and plans to convert it into a medical clinic.
“Duke University is excited to announce plans for a combination of health clinics and offices to help with the revitalization of the Northgate community, which was chosen for its easy access, good visibility and ample parking,” Scott Selig, associate vice president for real estate at Duke, told WRAL.
Planet Fitness has also signed a lease at the mall. And a firm called Measurement Inc. has also signed on for 21,000 square feet of offices in the property.
The developers expect 1,000 Duke staffers, doctors and patients to use the facility each day.
