Home cooking delivery e-tailer Blue Apron will open its first brick-and-mortar store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, N.Y. Blue Apron will occupy 3,443 square feet on the ground floor of mixed-use property 53 Broadway, and another 1,457 square feet on the property's lower level. The new space will be used as a test kitchen and for customer events.
RKF Vice Chairman Barry Fishbach and Senior Associate Eddie Mamiye represented the landlord Broadway Brooklyn Acquisition LLC in both transactions, as well as the tenant Dimora Casa. Blue Apron was represented by TerraCRG’s Peter Schubert and Ronnie Shalam. Located on the corner of Broadway and Wythe Avenue near the Williamsburg Bridge in the heart of Brooklyn’s hippest neighborhood, 53 Broadway is a stylish mixed-use development with retail at the base and rental residences above in the heart of Williamsburg’s nightlife and cultural scene. Built in 2013, it is a seven-story, 72-unit building with modern architecture and designer finishes. T53 Broadway is situated just a few steps from the many restaurants, specialty food stores and retail boutiques that attract New Yorkers and tourists alike. Neighbors include Marlow & Sons, Peter Luger Steakhouse, Urban Market of Williamsburg, Motorino, Barano, Streets, Gourmet Guild Williamsburg and Baby’s All Right.
Blue Apron allows users to pick recipes on its website, then delivers the ingredients and instructions to their homes.
The south side of Williamsburg is currently in a commercial and residential development boom. More than 3,500 apartments are planned or in construction at various projects across the neighborhood, including Two Trees’ Domino Sugar factory conversion, Eliot Spitzer’s Kent Avenue mega-project and the Oosten development, which encompasses an entire city block.
“This is an exciting time for the neighborhood below the Grand Street divide,” said Fishbach. “With an increasing number of new residents in the south side of Williamsburg, 53 Broadway is the perfect urban hub for brands like Blue Apron and Dimora Casa wanting to reach and serve the growing affluent demographic.”
