Evergreen Devco broke ground on a pair of single-tenant retail buildings that will house a 1,887-square-foot Black Rock Coffee Bar and a 5,600-square-foot Wilhelm Automotive. Estimated opening is April 2020. Big AZ Media

El Dorado Hills, Calif.
Donahue Schriber’s 100,000-square-foot Sienna Ridge Safeway shopping center will open in March 2020 with Safeway and a fuel station as anchors, plus 20 other retail tenants. Village Life

St. Charles, Ill.
Krausz Cos. is moving forward with plans to redevelop the Charlestowne Mall into The Quad, a mixed-use center with 155 townhouse units and 256 apartment units. Kane County Chronicle

Baltimore
Kimco Realty will add a shopping cart detection system around the perimeter of Towson Place shopping center. “For years, we’ve heard concerns from the community that a lot of the carts leave the complex, they go to the bus stop, or they go to the apartment complex across the street,” said Greg Reed, vice president of development for Kimco. Burlington, Mass.
Simon will begin interior and exterior renovations at The Burlington Mall that include elevated and modern furnishings, a new dining pavilion and a new play area. Other enhancements coming to the mall will include improvements to public restrooms, the addition of family restrooms, a media lounge for shoppers to relax in between shopping and a ride-sharing lounge.The renovations are expected to completed in the summer of 2021. Kansas City, Mo.
An investment group plans to redevelop a 104,490-square-foot former Kmart-anchored shopping center into a mixed-use property with entertainment, retail, restaurant and hotel users. The Kansas City Star

Gastonia, N.C.
U.S. Developments plans to add a 40,000-square-foot aquatics center to the 919,000-square-foot Eastridge Mall in addition to building a hotel, multifamily housing and office space. Gaston Gazette

Charlotte, N.C.
Konover South plans to kick off construction of Freeman Crossing, a 32,000-square-foot retail center near Charlotte Premium Outlets. Konover South CEO David Coppa expects the shopping center to include a steak restaurant, banking, cellular and healthcare services when it opens in 2021. Charlotte Observer

Staten Island, N.Y.
Waldman Partners will develop a six-building, 86,250-square-foot shopping center called Roman Plaza to open with 40 tenants next year. SI Live

VJS Development plans to redevelop Fox Run Shopping Center into a mixed-use center with medical and multifamily space. GMToday
