Mira Mesa’s community-planning committee is looking at redeveloping some big-box stores into smaller, walkable mixed-use complexes. NBC San Diego 

Rome, Ga.
R.H. Ledbetter Properties has plans to redevelop a former Kmart site as an open-air retail center called East Bend, by next October. Rome News-Tribune

Baltimore
Developers plan to raze the Northwood Plaza Shopping Center and rebuild it as the Northwood Commons, with some 100,000 square feet of shops and restaurants and a Barnes & Noble college bookstore anchor. The center is near Morgan State University. The Baltimore Sun

Ocean Township, N.J.
Paramount Realty plans to develop Ocean Town Center, a mixed-use complex with a Marriott Residence Inn, about 70 town houses, a Wawa gas station and convenience store, a Chick-fil-A, a bank and some retail spaces. Asbury Park Press

Kohl’s could be among the tenants moving into the 87,400-square-foot former Herberger’s anchor store at Hilltop Mall. Planet Fitness will open in a 15,000-square-foot portion of the building in November. Kearney Hub
