Week 1 of the Biden administration

January 22, 2021

January 20, 2021 marked the beginning of the Biden administration, and, as expected, the president pushed forward a record number of executive orders and other regulatory actions.

The executive orders that have been released to date are largely focused on the federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including worker safety, residential eviction and student debt moratoriums and increased federal equality and inclusion directives.

The administration, however, has also called for review of a significant list of administrative rules and regulations. Areas of note include agency actions related to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) and nationwide permits and other related aspects of the Clean Water Act.

ICSC will continue to monitor these and other rules and regulations that may impact our industry.
