Macy’s adding Backstage outlets to 50 more stores

March 15, 2019

Macy's is planning to increase its share of the off-price market by opening 50 more Macy’s Backstage outlets inside existing Macy’s stores this year.

Macy’s Backstage sells name-brand clothing, shoes, accessories, housewares and makeup at 20 to 80 percent below the typical department-store prices.

“Backstage’s focus on value and newness guarantees that with each visit, shoppers will find an amazingly priced assortment of recognizable brands and trends,” said Michelle Israel, the retailer's senior vice president of off-price, in a press release.

Macy’s Inc. launched the Backstage concept in 2015 and was operating 55 of the shops as of last April.
